Farnood Rumi, is a multifaceted writer, journalist, educator, and social activist from Malegaon, India
Born on July 25, 1992, in Sihbara, Uttar Pradesh (though official documents list 1991 due to early school enrollment practices), he spent his early childhood in various cities before his family settled in Malegaon in 1996
Educated in Malegaon through his 12th grade, Rumi pursued higher education in Pune, initially attempting the Chartered Accountancy course before transitioning to a Bachelor of Commerce and then a Master of Business Administration (MBA)
His diverse experience includes working as an accounts executive, running a cafe, and managing a semi-English school founded by his father. Rumi holds diplomas in Civil Engineering, Business Management, Hotel & Tourism Management, and Mass Communication. He is currently pursuing an LLB degree
For five years, Rumi worked with Connecting NGO in Pune, focusing on suicide prevention, burn victim assistance, and support for individuals affected by AIDS, disabilities, and poverty
Returning to Malegaon in 2019, he became involved in local activism during the anti-NRC and CAA protests and the subsequent COVID-19 lockdown
During the lockdown, he used his "Farnood Rumi" channel to disseminate information and conduct interviews with officials and public figures
He also served as vice president of the Malegaon Development Front before leaving due to ideological differences
Currently, Rumi directs The Knowledge School and founded Fanoos Academy and Studio in 2023, which has provided English language training to over a thousand students
A prolific writer, he publishes articles on social issues in local and national publications, including Inquilab, Urdu Times, Rashtriya Sahara, and Munsif
He has over 20,000 YouTube followers and is working on three books: English Capsule, Malegaon Lockdown Diary, and Muslim Freedom Fighters of Maharashtra
